| That's my brother and me in 1942. We grew up in the Panhandle of Oklahoma on our father's wheat farm. We were farm boys. He's now a retired professor from the University of Arkansas. For farm boys, we did pretty good.
I graduated from Oklahoma State U. and the Art Academy of Cincinnati, wanting to be an illustrator. Life got in my way and so I earned by livelihood being a commercial artist, doing graphic design and some illustration. My best job was with The Mother Earth News. I worked there from 1978 to 1987. I quit just before it went belly up (long bad story). There I designed projects for publication in the magazine, got to actually built them and did the technical drawings for how-to plans. If you still have your back issues, you will find my projects and drawings in about every issue during this time period. Google my name and you will find some of my stuff on the TMEN web site yet today (it did resurrect a few years later, but nowhere near what it was). After that I worked for sixteen years in OKC with the Onofrio Dog Shows as a graphic designer, From there, I retired to the lake and now I do freelance work with my photography, paintings and drawings. Commercial photography is my favorite work. Doing the wine bottles for Sailing Horse was a great delight. The senior shoot as fashion photography was also great . I like to do photo sessions that have a feeling of freedom and fun, and it really showed up in Christine's shots. My latest drawings and paintings are of American natives from the late 1800s. My works are for sale at local Art Fairs and at my studio. |
